In 2006, Gary Bolduc and other Norton Colorado members were instrumental in helping me get my Norton chopper finally up and running. I can't say how much all the knowledgable advice and technical expertise helped. Well worth the price of admission.
Perhaps foolishly (by now I should know what I was getting into), I bought another Norton Commando basket case. This time it was from an employee of mine who was looking to unload an unfinished 10-year-old project due to other financial needs. It was deal I couldn't pass up, but it was literally in a basket. Since I had in mind to build a bobber this time, all I kept from this basket of goodies were the drive train and frame. Everything else I sold off on eBay. I then sent the engine and tranny down to Colorado Norton Works for Matt Rambow to perform his magic. He did a brilliant job in every sense of the word. While that was happening, I chopped the frame (a rigid already) and made some modifications, including a longer backbone, a new 1" head, and a wider rear. I also chopped up and redid an old girder front end as well as an old Benelli gas tank. Unfortunately, my garage is unheated and we're having a bitch of a winter. So I'm looking forward to spring to assemble all the parts and pieces I've been collecting. Hopefully this time, everything will go together more easily. (yeah, right!)
